Agent

goose

Run coding, research, and automation tasks on your computer with an open-source agent that connects to your preferred AI models and MCP tools.

OVERVIEW

What is goose?

goose is a general-purpose AI agent that runs on your machine. Use it through a desktop app, command-line interface, or API to write and execute code, research topics, analyze data, and automate workflows. The project is part of the Agentic AI Foundation and is available under the Apache 2.0 license. Choose a supported model provider and connect the tools your task needs through MCP extensions. Recipes package instructions, extensions, and parameters into reusable workflows; subrecipes and subagents help divide larger jobs. The desktop app supports macOS, Linux, and Windows. Start by installing goose, configuring a model provider, and giving it a small task in a working directory. Add extensions as needed and choose appropriate tool permissions. Running the agent locally does not mean every model request stays on your device: that depends on your configured provider.
