Hermes Agent
An open-source assistant from Nous Research that remembers prior work, uses tools and schedules tasks across desktop, terminal and messaging apps.
What is Hermes Agent?
Hermes Agent is a configurable AI assistant for ongoing projects and recurring work. It keeps conversations, memories and reusable skills between sessions, so you can return to earlier tasks with saved context. Use it for web research, terminal work or scheduled reports and briefings. It can delegate work to isolated subagents and connect to messaging services including Telegram, Discord, Slack, WhatsApp, Signal and email. Available tools include browser automation, image generation and text-to-speech. Start with the desktop app or terminal installation, choose a model provider and configure the tools you need. Run the gateway to connect messaging services. Local tasks that require an active agent stop when its process stops; optional cloud hosting is available through Nous Portal. Hermes supports multiple model providers and configurable execution backends. Its software is open source, but your selected models, hosted tools and infrastructure can add usage costs.
Best for
Developers and technical teams wanting a configurable assistant with persistent context, reusable skills and scheduled workflows.
Not for
