OpenMontage

An open-source video production system that equips your coding assistant to plan, generate, edit and render explainers, demos and short films.

OVERVIEW

What is OpenMontage?

OpenMontage connects a coding assistant to video production workflows, from research and scripts to footage, narration, captions and final rendering. Use it to make an explainer, assemble documentary footage, repurpose a podcast or create a software demonstration. Start with an idea, existing material or a reference video. The assistant proposes a production plan; you review creative decisions and assets as the work progresses. The local Backlot board makes scripts, scenes, provider choices and costs visible. The repository requires Python, Node.js, FFmpeg and an assistant that can read files and execute code. Local and open-media workflows are available; paid media providers expand the options. Choose providers and review asset licenses for your intended distribution. The related OpenMontage Studio desktop experience is advertised as private alpha with a beta waitlist. Use the public repository for the currently available setup rather than assuming the desktop app is generally released.
